In learning to take charge and care for their lives participants learn the roles of close friends and family. Some are not positive roles and the participant must learn to make these distinctions if recovery is to remain successful. Individuals that are enabling addiction must be replaced with those which are supportive of addiction recovery. At Vista Bay participants are taught how to develop proper relationships and use proper perspective in developing new relationships. This can mean making all new friends; friends not involved with drugs or alcohol of any kind. The participant learns they are not alone in recovery and they also learn to realize the influence friends can have on their life.
Staff members at Narconon Vista Bay take their role and mission of rehabilitation very seriously and endeavor to help each participant to be successful in every way possible. Through their life skills rehabilitation courses such as; changing life’s conditions the participants learn techniques and strategies for dealing with challenges and setbacks. Where previously participants had limited choices in dealing with tough challenges and setbacks they now learn many new alternatives. These new alternative don’t involve addictive drugs and alcohol. Instead of turning to drugs and alcohol participants are taught to utilize persistence and the resources available to them in order to change the course of their lives. Equipped with their knowledge and strategies former addicts are in a much better situation to remain drug free and pursue a productive life and positive future.
